Battle of the Bands line-up announced

SAFFORD — It’s time to break out your best concert T-shirt or tank top and get ready for a full day of amazing music.

The 2021 Double R Communications Battle of the Bands is Saturday, July 10, at Graham County Fairgrounds.

The first band takes the stage at noon, with a new band every 30 minutes. This year’s line-up includes:

Noon – Scratch and Sniff

12:30 – Kizzar Invasion

1 – Fountains Ivory

1:30 – NVR

2 – Terrible Twos

2:30 – Second Hand Smoke

3 – Plane Jane

3:30 – Celestial Exile

4 – Lucky J’s

4:30 – Zaylie and Love Riot

5 – Citrus

5:30 – Sagebrush

6 – 4 Piece Scotts

6:30 – Borrowed Time

The winning band will take home a check for $1,500, plus there are prizes for the best singer, guitar player, bassist, drummer and specialty instrumentalist.

Judges this year are 2008 Gila Valley Idol winner Adam Crohn, 2017 Gila Valley Idol winner Darryn Kamae and Tad Jacobsen, drummer for national recording artist The Cole Trains.

Following the competition, will be the Battle of the Bands After Party, featuring a special performance by Country Music recording artist Harry Luge, sponsored by Horne Freedom Ford.

Also taking place is the Nickel Picnic, featuring 5 cent hot dogs, a fund-raiser for the Safford Rotary Club; the SEACUS Beer Tent, with all proceeds going to support Meals on Wheels; and plenty of other vendors.

“A special thanks to Taylor Freeze for helping us with the food service,” said Double R Communications’ Reed Richins.

Admission is just $2 for the day and the 2021 Battle of the Bands T-shirt will be available for purchase.
