SAFFORD — While the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center’s Hospital Auxiliary won’t be able to host a Christmas House for the second year in a row, that doesn’t mean the Auxiliary is sitting idle.

The Hospital Auxiliary is hosting a Night Out and Live Auction Saturday, Oct. 16, starting at 6 p.m.

“We have dinner and some music, and a live auction and a sealed-bid auction, and we have door prize. It should be a good time,” said Kay Matlock.

The Auxiliary has gathered 36 items for the live auction, 10 sealed-bid auction items and 11 items to be raffled off throughout the evening.

Auction items range from hand-made items such as quilts and pieces of artwork, to tattoos, furniture, and gift certificates to local stores and restaurants.

“All of the money raised by the Auxiliary goes directly to the hospital; they tell us what (equipment) they need” said Virginia Slusher. “This year there were some televisions put in Recovery, and some HazMat things. We didn’t have a fund-raiser (last) year and we still were able to give over $22,000.”

Since the Hospital Auxiliary was formed 45 years ago, the Auxiliary has donated $787,148 to MGRMC for the purchase of needed equipment.

The Night Out and Live Auction will take place at American Legion Swift-Murphy Post 32 in Safford. Cost is $15 per person and tickets are available from Auxiliary members and at the hospital gift shop.
