On October 9, 2021, at approximately 9:06 AM, Graham County Communications received a call that a body had been located in the area of mile post 306 on Highway 70, west of Ft. Thomas. The caller was a citizen who was in the area looking for a missing female, an Eva Joy Martinez, who had not been heard from since September 24.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim on the north side of the Highway, between the pavement and a private fence line, on a downward slopping embankment and dirt area.
The body was in a state of decomposition. The immediate area was processed, and pieces of evidence collected. The Department of Public Safety provided a reconstruction certified Trooper to assist with the investigation.
The Pima County Medical Examiner was notified, and an autopsy was done on Monday, October 11, 2021. The victim has not been positively identified at this time by the OME. The preliminary findings based on a verbal summary given to the Sheriff’s Office by the OME is the injuries to the female victim are consistence with a vehicle collision. The investigation continues.

Especially anyone who might have been traveling on Highway 70 in or around the Ft. Thomas area on September 24, 2021, from 8:00 PM to later that evening.
