By Sarah Griffin ASU’s Smart Money Bright Future seminar hosted at EAC THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College and Arizona State University will host a free financial aid seminar, “Smart Money Bright Future,” at Eastern Arizona College on October 17, 2017, in two sessions, 3:30-5 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., both in the High-Tech Center, Room #116, and will cover the same material. Kurt Palmer, outreach coordinator for the secondary education program for ASU at EAC and coordinator for this seminar says, “this is a great opportunity for anybody from a high school junior or senior to those who have been finished with their college for decades who are still paying for their student loans to come and learn about how to more effectively manage the entire financial aid process.” Those interested in learning how to manage their current or future student loans, scholarships, TEACH and SEED grants, or other financial aid resources are invited and encouraged to attend.

The seminar recommends that all attending high school students also bring their parents. Computers will be provided at the HighTech Center and ASU to give attendees the opportunity to work on their 2018/2019 FAFSA, and look up financial aid information. Jeff Tellin, senior financial literacy coordinator at ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College will present information on the various tools, programs, and resources available. Attendees are also invited to bring their own devices to the meeting to complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Tellin will use his expertise to help those attending complete their FAFSA during the seminar if they wish. For more information, contact Kurt Palmer at 928-428-8434 or by email kwpalme1@asu.edu.
