Argument between Father and Son leads to property damage

A teenager is facing charges of criminal damage after an argument with his father got out of control. Law enforcement was dispatched to the residence on Sunday afternoon after the father called to report that his son had broken the window out of the house.

When a deputy arrived, the teen-aged son was laying in the dirt in front of the house. According to the report, the father demanded the deputy take his son to jail. The deputy asked the father to wait in the house while he talked to the son.

The teen appeared to be very angry and was clenching his fists while laying on the ground. The deputy managed to get him to sit up and tell his side of the story. The teen alleged that his father didn’t do anything around the house, and made him do all the chores. He claimed that the argument started when he asked his father why he didn’t do anything around the house. The young man tried to leave the house but claimed his father forbade him. The argument apparently escalated to the point that the young man said that he finally lost it, went outside and through a rock through the front window of the house.

The father confirmed that the argument started because he asked his son to do the dishes so he could start dinner. The father said his son kept calling him out and wanted to fight him. He said the son was extremely upset, kicking things and slamming doors was he went outside.

After throwing a rock through the window, the teen apparently hurled a large rock at the side of the house, leaving a 4 inch square hole in the wood paneling. The young man also kicked the father’s car, causing damage on the passenger side from the tail light to the front passenger door.

The young man’s father insisted that the teen be taken to jail, but the deputy said that he would have to call juvenile probation to determine if they would take custody. Juvenile probation said the offenses didn’t meet the requirements. The young man was left at his residence with a referral for possible charges. The deputy told the young man that as long as he lived in his father’s house, he had to follow his rules.
