Area students receive scholarships from Eastern Arizona College

THATCHER, Ariz.—Eastern Arizona College’s 37th Annual Scholarship Banquet was held this past semester to recognize the scholastic achievements of over 100 EAC students.

The banquet, held at EAC’s campus in Thatcher, recognized donors and recipients of 60 scholarships. Many of the scholarships are annually funded by the generous contributions of various organizations and individuals, while others are endowed scholarships funded by the earnings provided by the gifts of donors.

Ryan Bryce of Thatcher, son of Nathan and Sonda Bryce, received the Nature Sweet Scholarship, which is awarded to a student with a desire to be a strong community partner.

As previously reported by GilaValleyCentral, the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties Scholarship was awarded to twenty-six students. Kristianna Alva daughter of Francyne; Tathra Ward daughter of Ron and Lorene Shiflet; Ethan Bryce son of Nathan and Sonda Bryce; Mirandy Griffin daughter of Jessica Griffin; all from Thatcher. Rylan Taylor son of Brent and Jeanine Taylor; Naomi Park daughter of Robert and Noelle Park; Rhett Hawkins son of Richie and Mickey Hawkins; Destiny Driver daughter of Janice and Dave Driver; and Adamaris Hernandez daughter of Juan F. Hernandez and Adriana Ojeda; all from Safford. Kayla Hawkins daughter of Shane and Carol Hawkins; Elizabeth Warn daughter of Travis and Tabitha Warn; both from of Pima. Megan Vansickle daughter of Collista Jensen; Taralyn Neilson daughter of Melissa Stewart; Melissa Claridge daughter of Randall and Mindy Claridge; all of Duncan. Alyssa Bonilla, of Bylas, daughter of Anthony and Felicia Garcia. Alia Camacho, of Clifton, daughter of Steve and Sarah Camacho. Thaddeus Gray, of Morenci, son of Thaddeus and Amanda Gray. Brittany Ewing, Shari Burnett, McKayla Wilson, Venicia Montez, Zack Walker, Austin Hogle, Natalye Hanna, Chantel Barber, and Jon Figueroa. The scholarship was established to benefit the high school graduates of Graham and Greenlee counties. The United Way understands the life-changing benefit of education and funds these scholarships to help our community improve the education level and earning ability of the youth in our community.
