Applications now being accepted for 2022 wildland firefighters

SAFFORD — The Gila District of the Bureau of Land Management is accepting applications for wildland firefighters for the 2022 fire season.

There are 20 positions open and applicants must:

● Be 18 or older

● Be able to pass a fitness test and medical exam

● Be able to travel out-of-state for extended periods of time

Those who are accepted must also be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Pay is $19.72 per hour. Recruits will receive classroom and field training, and all essential equipment assigned that will enable them to perform wildfire suppression safely and effectively.

Applications will be accepted through March 18, and applicants will be notified of selection status in April.
