Anthony “Tony” Berver, 91, passed away August 18, 2016 at the Arizona State Veteran Home in Tucson, AZ. Tony was born on July 24, 1925 to George and Natividad Berver in Hastings, Nebraska.
After graduating from high school Tony was drafted for WWII. He chose to enter the Navy and served on the USS Scout AM296. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge, Tony went to Hastings College where he graduated with a B.A. in Education.
While attending college he met Yvonne Fuller and they were married March 31, 1949. Later that year they welcomed a daughter, Carol Yvonne. In 1954 an opportunity to teach in Globe, AZ brought the family out west. They welcomed a second daughter, Jeanne Marie in 1961. The family moved to Safford in 1962 and called the Gila Valley home.
Tony is survived by his sister Francesca Brockmeyer, daughter Jeanne (Russell) Hervol, grandchildren Erin Fly, Rory Hervol, John Henry Hervol and son-in-law Bob Fly.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Safford, AZ. Interment will follow in the Columbarium at the church.
