Anthany Lee Rhoades

On Thursday, April 27, 2023, Anthany Lee Rhoades, loving son, brother, friend and United States Marine Corps veteran, passed away at the age of 24.

Anthany was born on September 15, 1998 in Phoenix, Arizona. Parents are Melissa and Robert Stoner, and Brian Rhoades. Anthany served in the United States Marine Corps from January 2018 to October 2021. He was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan as an Aircraft Powerline Mechanic. During his time as a Marine, he was an expert in military aviation maintenance, serving in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Powerline Division.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Anthany went on to work at a ranch in Patagonia, Arizona, where he was able to live out his cowboy dreams. He loved riding and training horses and spent countless hours rounding up cattle. He had a passion for the outdoors, animals, and helping others.

Anthany is known for his kind and compassionate spirit, goofy grin, and hard work ethic. There wasn’t a life he didn’t touch during his short time on earth.

Anthany is survived by: his mother, Melissa; fathers, Robert and Brian; his siblings, Devon, Dylan, Ashlee, Hope, Jocelyn, Jaydon, Mekayla, Christine, Steven and Chasity; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Anthany will be conducted Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at the Safford Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop Dustin Curtis of the Safford 4th Ward. Military honors will be conferred by the Gila Valley Veterans Honor Guard following the services.

Family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 11, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Friday afternoon, May 12, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., in the Relief Society room of the Safford Stake Center.

Concluding services for Anthany will be conducted Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., in the Pomerene Cemetery in Pomerene, Arizona.
