SAFFORD — There were two area deaths related to COVID-19 over the weekend.
Graham County Health Department reported one of the deaths Saturday. The victim was a Safford resident over the age of 65.
Graham County’s total number of COVID-19 related deaths is at 21, with five occurring in the last week.
The Health Department also reported 21 new positive cases, with 12 on Friday and nine Saturday. There was no report issued Sunday.
Graham County is at 605 total cases, with 355 active and 229 recovered.
The other area death involved a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe on the reservation, and the San Carlos Apache Department of Health and Human Services announced the Death Saturday. That bring’s the tribe’s number of COVID-19 related deaths to 10.
The tribe also reported 26 new positive cases over the weekend — 15 Friday, five Saturday and six Sunday — bringing the tribe’s total to 665. Of that total, 104 cases are active and 653 have recovered.
Greenlee County is at 10 days without a new COVID-19 case.
