Another Graham County COVID-19 reporting error by AZDHS

PHOENIX – Visitors to the Arizona Department of Health Services website Saturday may have been surprised to see that Graham County has a third positive case of COVID-19; however, a third positive does not exist.

Brian Douglas, director of the Graham County Health Department, said Saturday the third positive is a recording error and the county continues to have had just two positive cases in the pandemic thus far.

Douglas said the reporting error involved the San Carlos Apache Tribe, which had had zero positive cases thus far. The tribe has been very aggressive in its dealing with COVID-19, implementing strong social distancing measures, including a curfew, as well as fines and criminal charges for those violating the tribe’s measures.

Both Graham and Greenlee counties have been holding firm in the number of positive COVID-19 cases, with Graham at two and Greenlee at one.

Adjoining counties haven’t been so lucky – with Navajo County being hit especially hard with 177 positive cases. Pinal County has 89, Apache County 20, Cochise has seven and Gila has three.
