Another COVID-19 death in Safford

SAFFORD — Yet another Safford resident has died as a result of COVID-19.

Graham County Health Department announced the death Monday evening. The victim was reported as being over the age of 65.

Monday’s death brings the county’s death total to 17. Graham County is experiencing a 3.1 percent mortality rate.

There were also seven new COVID-19 cases Monday, bringing the county’s total to 556, with 344 cases still active and 195 recovered. Graham County has an 18 percent infection rate, based on 3,086 tested.

San Carlos Apache Tribe announced four new cases Monday, bringing the tribe’s total to 605. Of the total, 122 cases are still active, 474 have recovered and there have been nine deaths.

The two districts in Graham County continue to see the greatest number of cases, with Peridot recording 205 cases and three deaths, while Bylas has experienced 140 cases.

For the fourth day in a row, Greenlee County Health Department reported no new cases. The county has seen a total of 58 cases, with 14 cases still active, 42 recovered and two deaths.
