SAFFORD – The lights are blinking, the temperatures are falling and Santa was seen on the Main Street. These are the signs of the Light Parade.

This year’s light parade’s theme was, “Christmas Wishes.” Trucks, trailers and motorcycles were completely decked out in flickering festive lights.

Debra and Ray Nichols were camped out on the side of Main Street in their truck two hours before the parade. They sat in the back of their truck wrapped up in blankets, ready for this year’s light parade tradition.  The Nichols told Gila Valley Central that there is always something new on Main Street and in the parade.

“Our seven children usually show up plus their children,” Debra said. “They walk the path.”

This year’s parade highlights included the Thatcher and Safford high school bands. The groups had their instruments and outfits covered in lights as they marched down the street.
