GRAHAM COUNTY – The Gila Valley Small Business Woman of the Year awards are nearly upon us. Now is the time to submit your choice for Gila Valley Small Business Woman of the Year.

Those interested in nominating a woman for the honor can do so online here or by picking up and dropping off nomination forms at the Graham County Chamber of Commerce. Nominations are due by 5 p.m, Thursday, Oct. 12.

The 5th annual Gila Valley Small Business Woman of the Year awards ceremony will be Thursday, Oct. 26, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Eastern Arizona College’s Gherald L. Hoopes Jr. Activities Center – Main Dining Hall.

This event was created to celebrate women business owners in Graham and Greenlee counties.

Nominees are submitted by local residents and are reviewed by an appointed committee.

This year, the grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 prize but every nominee who attends the award banquet will also receive a gift and be recognized.

The awards program is open to the public but seating is limited and organizers ask those who would like to attend to RSVP here.

“We’d love to have a great crowd to help honor these women,” said EAC Small Development Center Business Counselor Charmaine Chidester.

Woman-owned businesses account for 30 percent of all U.S. businesses, generating $1.9 trillion in sales and employing roughly 9.2 million people. The Gila Valley Small Business Woman of the Year Committee was formed to encourage and promote the celebration of these achievements in the Gila Valley.
