Graham County Sheriff’s Office Responds to 89 Incidents
The Graham County Sheriff’s Office responded to 89 incidents between Sept. 4 and the early morning hours of Sept. 8, according to the agency’s latest incident report. The calls included domestic disputes, welfare checks, traffic crashes, DUI investigations, drug activity, suspicious-person reports, animal problems, thefts and other civil and criminal matters.
One of the more serious incidents occurred Friday afternoon on West Ridge Drive, where a 13-year-old bicyclist was struck by a yellow Chevrolet Trax. The juvenile was initially reported to be unable to walk but was conscious and breathing.
Later that evening, deputies investigated a crash involving a dirt bike and a Chevrolet truck near Stockton Road and Double K Drive. A juvenile riding the dirt bike reportedly suffered road rash to the head and knees. The incident was initially classified as an accident with no injuries before being changed to an injury crash. The report states the accident occurred at an estimated 45 mph.
Several DUI investigations were also recorded. A traffic stop at Walgreens on Sept. 4 was changed to a DUI investigation, while additional DUI calls were reported later that evening on Stockton Road and in Safford near Fifth Avenue and Fifth Street. Another DUI was reported early Sept. 7 near Circle K on U.S. 70.
On Sept. 6, deputies responded to a medical emergency involving a 36-year-old man with Type 1 diabetes who reportedly had extremely low blood sugar. He was described as going in and out of consciousness, not alert and experiencing abnormal breathing.
A drug investigation was initiated Sunday afternoon near Hollywood and U.S. Highway 70. The call began as a traffic stop before being changed to a drug investigation, and the report indicates that a person was taken into custody.
Another unusual call Sunday evening involved a bloodied man reportedly jumping over a backyard fence on Frye Creek Road in Thatcher. The resident told deputies the man appeared paranoid, smelled of alcohol and repeatedly moved between the wash and nearby properties. Deputies requested medical assistance for the man.
Deputies also responded to a rollover crash late Sunday night near South Kempton Hill Lane and East Solomon Road. A 2021 Chevrolet Blazer was found upside down in a ditch with its airbags deployed. Initial reports indicated two people might still be inside, but deputies found the vehicle unoccupied and subsequently detained one person who had been hiding nearby.
Domestic and family-related calls were reported throughout the period. One Sept. 5 welfare check involved a report that a child had allegedly been intentionally burned by a stepbrother. Another domestic call involved a woman reporting that her mother was following her around the house and yelling at her.
A separate Sept. 5 call on South Victoria Lane involved reported death threats. The incident was connected to an earlier complaint involving threats against the reporting party and his mother.
On Sept. 7, deputies were called to Ocotilla Street during an attempted vehicle repossession. According to the report, a person climbed into the vehicle while it was being lifted by a tow truck, while another man stood in front of the truck and refused to move. The tow-truck employee was reported to have a holstered firearm. The vehicle owner was reportedly yelling and refusing to move, and a coworker had video of the confrontation.
Other notable calls included a dog-bite case, a report of an aggressive person hiding in a tree at Stockton Pass Campgrounds, a theft involving appliances taken from a Fort Thomas residence, and a brush fire under the Eighth Avenue bridge that firefighters determined was a slow-burning campfire involving a downed tree.
The report also documents multiple encounters with cattle on or near area roadways. On Sept. 6, a vehicle rolled after striking a cow near Aviation Way and Solomon Pass Road. Although the initial report indicated no injuries, later information noted possible trauma to the driver’s ribs.
The final incident listed in the report occurred shortly after 4:48 a.m. Sept. 8 in Thatcher and involved a dispute over a maroon 2026 GMC Acadia
