SUPERIOR — Arizona Department of Transportation announced there are plans to close U.S. Highway 60, between Globe and Superior, for two days this week.

Tentative plans call for Highway 60 to be closed in both directions between mileposts 227-243 Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

The closure is for the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon bridges replacement project.

If the closures go into effect, drivers will be detoured to Winkelman via State Routes 77 and 177. The roughly 75-mile detour is estimated to add about an hour to trips between the Gila Valley and the Phoenix metro area.
