PHOENIX — The unemployment rates in Graham and Greenlee counties continued their downward trends in April.
That’s according to data released Thursday by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.
Greenlee County’s unemployment rate decreased one-tenth of a percentage point from March, to 2.8 percent.
It was the second month in a row that Greenlee County had an unemployment rate under 3 percent, and Greenlee is the only county in the state with a jobless rate under 3 percent. It was the 51st month in a row that Greenlee had the state’s lowest unemployment.
The unemployment rate in Graham County dropped three-tenths of a point in April, to 3.8 percent. That’s good for third lowest in the state behind Greenlee and Maricopa County at 3.7 percent.
The unemployment rate in Cochise County dropped three-tenths of a percentage point in April, to 5.4 percent.
Arizona’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained flat in April, at 4.7 percent, while the national unemployment also stayed the same, at 4.3 percent.
Job gains were reported in eight economic sectors: Professional and business services (up 5,400 jobs); health care and social assistance (up 4,600 jobs); government (up 3,200 jobs); leisure and hospitality (up 2,800 jobs); information (up 800 jobs); trade, transportation and utilities (up 800 jobs); financial activities (up 400 jobs); and natural resources and mining (up 100 jobs).
Reporting job losses were manufacturing (down 1,500 jobs), and construction (down 800 jobs).
Private educational services reported no job gains or losses.
