SAFFORD — Gila Valley Indivisible is reaching out to people of all political persuasions to come together to address local issues.
That was the consensus of Indivisible’s first meeting Thursday in the Graham County Chamber of Commerce large meeting room.
Gila Valley Indivisible is described as a nonpartisan group dedicated to “protecting democracy and standing up to authoritarianism.”
“It comes down to values,” said David Himmelfarb. “The challenge is living up to our values.”
To get more residents involved, Gila Valley Indivisible will hold a gathering in front of the Graham County Courthouse, followed by a march down Safford’s Main Street on Thursday, May 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the purpose of talking to people in the Downtown area.
Also discussed was holding a Valley-wide town hall in the future, to detail residents’ concerns and come up with potential solutions.
“We can’t be negative; we have to be for something,” said Joyce Evans.
