SAFFORD — Organizers are planning for “the largest non-violent protest in American history” later this month.
The Graham County Democratic Committee announced participation in the national No Thrones, No Crowns, No Kings Protest on Saturday, March 28.
The protest will take place on the corner of 20th Avenue and U.S. Highway 70 in Safford, from 9-11 a.m.
“As freedoms, families and communities face growing threats, we are standing united to defend our rights and our democracy. America belongs to the people — not to strongmen, billionaires or those who rule through fear,” organizers wrote in the announcement.
Before the protest, the American Civil Liberties Union is conducting an online training about rights and safety practices for non-violent protest. The training will take place Wednesday, March 18, starting at 5 p.m. Click here to register.
Participation in the national No Kings Protest will be the 10th local protest of the Trump administration since he returned to office in January 2025, the third in 2026 and the first since Trump initiated hostilities with Iran.
