THATCHER — A new restaurant in Thatcher is getting underway
The Town of Thatcher announced that groundbreaking for a new Culver’s Restaurant will take place Tuesday, Feb. 24, at noon, at the restaurant’s future location on U.S. Highway 70 and 3rd Avenue, in the Thatcher Commercial Plaza.
In February 2025, the town announced it was negotiating with Kevin Adams, a Culver’s franchisee who owns restaurants in Sierra Vista, Green Valley and Tucson in Arizona, as well as locations in Illinois and Georgia.
In March, the town announced it had agreed to sell to Adams land in the Thatcher Commercial Plaza, next to the soon-to-be-completed American Southwest Credit Union.
Since that time, the town was working with Arizona Department of Transportation about traffic requirements, as well as installing electrical and wastewater infrastructure, and working with the City of Safford on water service to the property.
The last remaining parcel in the Thatcher Commercial Plaza was sold by the town in December to Palmer and Johnson Family Dental, who plans to relocate its operations from Safford.
In 2018, the Town of Thatcher purchased the old Red Lamp Mobile Home and RV Park, renaming it the Thatcher Commercial Plaza.
