PHOENIX — There were nearly 100 cases of flu in Graham County in the most recent week of reporting.
That’s according to the Arizona Department of Health Services, which reports the county saw 100 cases of flu the week of Dec. 24, up 6.4 percent from the previous week’s cases.
Graham County has had 463 total cases so far this flu season, which is 153 percent above the five-year average of 183 at this time of year.
Greenlee County reported 65 cases of flu the week of Dec. 24, up 160 percent from the previous week’s cases. So far, Greenlee County has had 124 cases of flu, up 22.8 percent over the five-year average.
Cochise County reported 57 cases the week of Dec. 24 and 94 total since the start of the flu season.
Statewide, Arizona has experienced 4,487 cases so far this flu season, which is up 31.7 percent compared to the five-year average.
To have the best chance at avoiding the flu this season, the Department of Health Services recommends a flu shot, plus regular washing of hands for least 20 seconds, covering coughs with a tissue or sleeve, avoid close contact with those who are sick, and staying home when sick.
