SAN CARLOS — San Carlos Apache Police announced they have made an arrest in a homicide that occurred near the Apache Gold Resort and Casino.
The suspect in the killing is a juvenile and police said the minor has been charged tribally, although additional federal charges could be forthcoming. Age, gender and identity of the suspect has not been released.
The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, near the casino entrance. Initial investigation found the incident occurred under “suspicious circumstances,” leading police to classify the case as a homicide.
The victim was identified as Jessie Russell Sr., 56, a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.
