Dry Lake fire burning on San Carlos Apache Reservation

SAN CARLOS — A new wildfire on the San Carlos Apache Reservation was discovered Thursday.

The Dry Lake fire is on the east side of the reservation, north of Indian Route 8 and west of Point of Pines.

The fire is currently listed at 6 acres and was discovered at about 3:22 p.m. Thursday. It is burning in the pine needle cast and is believed to have moderate spread potential.

The fire is at 0-percent containment and cause was from lightning.
