SAN CARLOS — San Carlos Apache Forestry announced the Gap fire is up to 1,600 acres, and two other smaller wildfires have sprung up.
The Gap fire, in the Ash Flat area south of Indian Route 8, started Tuesday, Jan. 7. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
San Carlos Apache Forestry Resources reports fire lines have been secured, working toward containment.
The two other fires are both located in the Peridot area, and are both believed to be human caused.
The Ravine fire is south of La Bamba City and is currently at 36 acres. It was discovered Jan. 5
The Grazed fire, near the San Carlos River, grew to 55 acres thanks to strong winds. The fire started Jan. 7.
There is no containment reported on any of the fires as of 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9.
