Bryce Mattice, 36, of Pima, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. He was born October 20, 1987, in Mesa to Richard Webb Mattice and Valerie Lee Smith.
Bryce was the youngest of 6 children, Mitzi, Gary Webb, Jennifer, Brant Christopher, and Margo. Bryce grew up in Pima, and for a short time in Carpinteria, California. Bryce was an energetic little boy and loved to be silly and make everyone laugh. Bryce attended both Pima and Thatcher High School and had many friends growing up. Bryce fiercely loved and protected his family and friends and since his passing, many of his friends have said “Bryce always had my back”. After his passing, the family continues to hear many funny and mischievous stories.
Bryce attended flight school at Cochise Community College to become a pilot. He loved to fly. He also worked as a manager at an automotive business for many years. Bryce became a correctional officer in Safford and was an exemplary officer. His Lieutenant praised Bryce’s work ethic and character and expressed what an amazing coworker and friend he was to everyone.
Bryce leaves behind: 5 beautiful children, Baylee, Ric, Wyatt, Mason, and Penelope. He loved his children very much and they were his proudest accomplishment.
Bryce was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Iris Mattice and Christopher and Ethel Smith and his older sister, Mitzi, and older brother Gary.
Funeral services for Bryce will be conducted Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Pima Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop JJ Alder of the Pima 2nd Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Pima Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday morning, September 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., in the Junior Sunday School room of the Pima Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
