GRAHAM COUNTY — The Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest is currently battling an active wildfire on Mount Graham.

The fire is located 1.5 miles east of Noon Creek, on the north side of State Route 366, with about 10-20 acres burned thus far.

The Safford Ranger District currently has two engines and one crew onsite at the fire line. Officials with Coronado National Forest said the team is seeking full suppression of the fire.

Cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Forest Service announced it was continuing prescribed pile burning operations on the mountain, following a weather stoppage. The burns were expected to be completed by Friday, and are about 8 miles away from the wildfire.
