Area students receive scholarships from Eastern Arizona College

THATCHER, Ariz.— Eastern Arizona College’s 39^th Annual Scholarship Banquet was held earlier this semester to recognize the scholastic achievements of 87 EAC students. The banquet, held at EAC’s campus in Thatcher, recognized donors and recipients of over 40 scholarships. Many of the scholarships are annually funded by the generous contributions of various organizations and individuals, while others are endowed scholarships funded by the earnings of funds provided by the gifts of donors.

The recipient of the Alumni Association Scholarship was Jake Brown of Pima, son of Robyn Ferrin and Kevin Brown.

Receiving the Eastern Arizona Hispanic Family Heritage Scholarship were Kamry Claridge of Thatcher, daughter of Erika and Aaron Claridge; Karyme Grijalva of Safford, daughter of Veronica Macario; Gabriella Montoya of Safford, daughter of Antonio Montoya and Rachel Chavez; and Keira Turley of Thatcher, daughter of Shawn Turley.

The recipient of the Kainoa’s Scholarship was Jordan Martinez of Safford, daughter of Alex and Jerri Martinez. Recieving the Kristie Putnam Scholarship was Jennifer Reed of Pima, daughter of Don and Robin Cluff. Recieving the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center Foundation Scholarship was Heather Black of Safford, daughter of Wes and Jamie Taylor.

The recipient of the Safford Lions Club Scholarship were Amora Baldwin of Safford, daughter of Tammy and Merlin Baldwin; Emma Lamoreaux of Thatcher, daughter of Melinda and Spencer Lamoreaux; and Jose Reyes of Safford, son of Jose and Jael Reyes.

The recipient of the United Way Scholarship were Celesia Acosta of Safford, daughter of Bernadette and Steven Acosta; Lemiah Anderson of Bylas, son of Dorothea Grimes; Uriah Benavidez of Safford, son of Julie Giacoletti; Jaime Blancarte of Thatcher, son of CC and Derrick Austin and Jaime and Jeni Blancarte; Ashley Cully of Safford, daughter of Mike Silvas and Beth Holloway; Shaylee Hunt of Thatcher, daughter of Jeremy and Cindy Hunt; Owen Lunt of Pima, son of Craig and Cheryl Lunt; Maya Mattice of Pima, daughter of Jared and Tasha Mattice; Gary Najar of Duncan, son of Steve and Michele Najar; Kassandra Shields of Safford, daughter of Michael Snedden; Hailey Smith of Thatcher, daughter of Ashley and Mark Smith; and Taylor Stone of Pima, daughter of JoAnna Stone.

The recipients of the Newman Sustaining Board Scholarship were Edward Flores Jr. of Safford, son of Edward Flores Sr. and Mary Flores; and Dakota Ybarra of Safford, son of Albert and Beatrice Ybarra. The recipient of the Dr. Ron Keith Memorial Scholarship was Adelynn Tregaskes of Safford, daughter of Heather and Clint Tregaskes.

Receiving the EAC Foundation Scholarship were Melissa Claridge of Duncan, daughter of Randal and Mindy Claridge and Clarence Darnell of Duncan, son of Brent and Danette Darnell.

The recipient of the Elaine Robak Scholarship was Celinda Delgado of Safford, daughter of Joe and Nora Delgado. The recipient of the Freeport-McMoRan Future Skills Scholarship was Ryann Lehmann of Thatcher, daughter of Crystal and Erik Lehmann.

The recipient of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Safford Scholarship was Makayla Edgmon of Pima, daughter of Tanya Edgman. The recipient of the Jerry & Verlene Anderson Scholarship was Koby Davis of Safford, son of Ryan and Renee Davis. The recipient of the Jose Sosa Scholarship was Paizlee Schumaker of Thatcher, daughter of Louis and Stephanie Schumaker.

Receiving the Keyhole Properties Business Scholarship was Ayla Finch of Safford, daughter of Michael and Philis Finch.

The recipients of the Large Binocular Telescope Scholarship were Jada Cheney of Bylas, daughter of Heather and Frank Cheney Sr. and Mikayla Kindelay of Peridot, daughter of Jessica and Michael Kindelay.

The recipient of the Safford Rotary Club Scholarship was D. Brigg Baldwin of Safford, son of Tammy and Merlin Baldwin. The recipient of the Ashley Marie Beals Scholarship was Tiana Lucero of Safford, daughter of Pamela and Joe Cates and Thomas Lucero.

The recipient of the George R. Bingham Memorial Drama Scholarship was Brianna Richins of Thatcher, daughter of Tyson and Mary Richins. The recipient of the John Mickelson Endowed Scholarship was Jarrett Walker of Pima, son of Robin and Laura Walker.

Students who are interested in receiving a scholarship from Eastern Arizona College for the 2024-2025 school year should apply before December 31, for priority consideration.
