PIMA — While some communities across the nation are pulling back from funding libraries, The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties is helping Gila Valley libraries grow.
On Tuesday, the United Way presented the Town of Pima with a check for $200,000 to help develop a new library building.
Town officials are looking to construct a larger library closer to the Elementary and Middle schools, which will allow more children to take advantage of library programming after school.
After the new library is constructed, the Pima Fire Department has proposed to take over the old library building for storage.
Town officials said there is no cost estimate yet for a new library.
