THATCHER — The first round of lane restrictions for the widening of 8th Street in Thatcher will take place Monday, Aug. 26.

To allow City of Safford crews to safely move water lines, and Southwest Gas crews to move natural gas lines, the eastbound lane of 8th Street will be closed between 1st Avenue and Tuscany Lane.

The lane closure will remain in place from Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., until Sept. 6. The lane will be re-opened on weekends and on Labor Day, Sept. 2.

Last year, the state allocated $4.5 million to the town for the widening of 8th Street, between 20th Avenue and 1st Avenue.
