40 new coronavirus cases locally over last eight days

SAFFORD — Over the past eight days, Graham County experienced 40 new cases and two deaths related to COVID-19.

That’s according to the Graham County Health Department, which reported 11 new cases July 20-22, 22 cases July 23-26, and seven cases July 27-28.

There have been a total of 5,676 cases and 87 deaths in Graham County since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The young adult age group accounts for nearly 50 percent of all the cases Graham County has experienced. Those aged 20-44 have experienced 2,792 cases, followed by 850 cases in those 45-54, 824 in those 19 and younger, 609 in those 55-64 and 599 in those 65 and older.

According to Arizona Department of Health, just 28 percent of Graham County has been vaccinated.

The Graham County Health Department continues to offer both the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and the two-shot Moderna vaccine for free. The clinic is open 8-11 a.m. Monday-Wednesday, and 2-5 p.m. Thursday. Call 928-428-0110 to schedule an appointment.
