15-year-old cuts ankle monitor, runs away

A woman called the Graham County Sheriff’s office Sunday night to report her 15-year-old son had cut off his ankle monitor and ran away from home. The woman’s fiancé reportedly tried to stop the boy but was unable to catch him. The man told authorities that the boy’s cell phone had text messages that indicated he planned to run away with his girlfriend. Multiple officers patrolled the area but were unable to find the runaway.

An officer went to the girlfriend’s house but the girl’s mother said she had not seen him. She allowed officers to search the house but the boy was not found. Authorities also searched the home of a friend but the boy was not found there either.

A deputy spotted a young man that matched the description of the runaway at approximately 10:20 pm but was unable to catch up to him. Camera footage showed the boy running toward an apartment complex near Eastern Arizona College. The search was ultimately called off and an attempt to locate was put out.
