SAFFORD — The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties spread grant funding throughout the two counties in April
According to data released Monday by the local United Way, 10 programs and projects received funding totaling $40,460.79.
Funded were:
Education
- $5,000 — Friends of the Safford Library for a Holocaust Education Residency
- $4,200 — Thatcher Middle School for outdoor seating
- $4,070.65 — Pima Elementary School for adjustable activity tables
- $677.14 — Ruth Powell Elementary School for sixth grade interactive novel set
Health
- $5,000 — Aravaipa Watershed Conservation for operational funding
- $3,310 — Our Neighbors Farm and Pantry to refinish the pantry floor
Economic Stability
- $3,408 — Art Depot of Clifton for community workstation supplies
Sponsorships
- $5,000 — Morenci High School for the Graham/Greenlee County Drum Major, Color Guard and Leadership camp
- $4,990 — Eastern Arizona College for the YES event
- $4,805 — Greenlee County Health Department for the Summer Backpack Drive
“So with that, it puts us at $1.1 million so far (this year) out in the community,” said Amanda Patterson, interim executive director for United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties.
The next fund-raising opportunity for United Way will be the Casino Royale event at Manor 415 Event Center, shared with Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center Foundation on Friday, May 1, from 6-9 p.m.
The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties makes grants to nonprofit, educational and governmental organizations thanks to donations from Freeport-McMoRan Foundation and Freeport employees; employees of the City of Safford, Town of Thatcher and Graham County; and individual donors.
