Work starts on new effluent line, 14th closed to traffic

SAFFORD — Starting this week, and running through June, there will be travel restrictions on 14th Avenue in Safford.

The city has begun work on installation of an effluent main line, which will transport treated effluent to the Graham County Fairgrounds under an agreement between the city and the county. The purpose is to reduce the amount of potable water being used for irrigation.

14th Avenue will be closed to through traffic from West 8th Street to West Thatcher Boulevard.

Emergency vehicles and school transportation will be allowed through; however, all other traffic is prohibited.
