Woman contacts Sheriff’s office after receiving letter threatening to throw her in jail

A woman recently contacted the Sheriff’s Office regarding an anonymous letter she received threatening legal action for loud music and allowing dogs to run free. The woman said at least one of her neighbors received a similar letter. She said the letter cited county ordinances concerning dogs at large as well as the statute for disorderly conduct and loud noise.

The woman said that she considered the letter threatening in its tone and told authorities that she is aware of houses in the area that cause the issues that were detailed in the letter but hers was not one of them.

The responding deputy said that he did not consider the contents of the letter to be threatening but felt it expressed concerns of keeping the peace in the neighborhood.

The reporting party said that she would prefer having a neighbor knock on her door and talk to her about concerns and issues rather than sending an anonymous letter.
