Wildfire burning on Arizona – New Mexico border

A wildfire burning at the border of Arizona and New Mexico, about 30 miles south of Animas, New Mexico has consumed nearly 6,000 acres. The fire originated on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at approximately 9:15 PM. It’s believed to have been caused by lightning. Currently there are 275 firefighters in the area.

The northern end of the fire is close to the Geronimo Trail. Crews are working to prevent the fire from reaching and crossing the road.
