Reay fire along the Gila River grew to 300 acres

THATCHER — On Monday, BLM Fire Management Gila District and Thatcher Fire Department began fighting a wildland fire along the Gila River.

BLM officials said the fire is currently grew to about 300 acres, and was moving westward toward the Thatcher Bridge.

Ignition was likely human caused and crews are exerting full suppression efforts, with one hotshot drew, one state Type 2 crew and four engines.

Crews conducted burnout operations through the night
