Veterans Resource Fair is Friday

SAFFORD — For the ninth year in a row, the Gila Valley is coming together to help veterans.

The 2022 U.S. Military Veterans and Families Resource Fair will take place Friday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Safford National Guard Armory on U.S. Highway 191.

“This year we have over 60 providers,” said Chris Gibbs with Gila Valley Veterans Services. “So veterans with almost any issue can come in and find an answer, (or) at the very least find someone who can give an answer.”

Vendors with expertise in a number of areas will be there, including those who can help vets navigate both the federal and state systems for benefits, medical and dental providers under the VA, those who can help with pet services, educational needs, substance abuse, homelessness and more.

Col. Wanda Wright, director of Arizona Veterans Services, will also be in attendance to talk with vets about the issues they are currently facing.

A free meal will be provided to all who attend.

Sponsors include the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties, Safford Lions Club, Arizona Department of Veterans Services, Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness and Be Connected.
