US 60, Waterfall Canyon Bridge area east of Superior restrictions begin today, Sept. 17

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers and recreational users of the Waterfall Canyon Bridge area that the following restrictions will be in place for construction activities related to the US 60, Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Replacement Project:

  • The US 60 pullout/parking area (milepost 229.2) east of Superior and west of the Waterfall Canyon Bridge is closed.
  • Areas within and near the Waterfall Canyon Bridge are closed.
  • There is no trail or parking access for the Waterfall Canyon Bridge area.

These restrictions are needed for the safety of recreational users and the work crews.

These restrictions will be in place for the duration of the project.

The Waterfall Canyon Bridge, located east of the Queen Creek Tunnel, will be reconstructed into two box culverts to improve drainage, and will remain in its existing location. Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.

Lane restrictions, speed reductions and a 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Oversize loads may be accommodated with advance notice.
