US 60 closed between Miami and Superior Tuesday through Thursday

SUPERIOR — The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers that U.S. Highway 60, between Superior and Miami, between mileposts 227-229, will be reduced to one lane, with alternating east-west travel, Monday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Then on Tuesday, April 15, through Thursday, April 17, Highway 60 will be closed in both directions between mileposts 227-243, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Flagging operations may be in effect before and after the full lane closures.

Eastbound US 60 drivers will be detoured southbound on State Route 177 through Winkleman to northbound SR 77. Westbound US 60 drivers will use southbound SR 77 through Winkleman to northbound SR 177.

The detour is estimated to add an additional hour for trips between Superior and Miami, and due to the roughly 75-mile length of this detour, drivers may want to consider planning travel before 9 a.m. and after 2 p.m.

Motorists should plan for lane restrictions and speed reductions in the work zone and a 12-foot vehicle width restriction to be in place for the duration of the project. Oversize loads may be accommodated with advance notice.

The closures are for blasting operations related to the US 60 Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Replacement Project.
