PHOENIX — For the third straight month, the unemployment rate in Greenlee County remains below 3 percent.
That’s according to data released Thursday by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.
Greenlee County’s unemployment rate decreased one-tenth of a point in October to 2.8 percent, the 35th month in a row Greenlee County has the lowest unemployment in the state.
Meanwhile Graham County’s jobless rate also fell in October, dropping one-tenth of a percentage point, to 3.3 percent. Graham is tied with Yavapai and Maricopa counties for the second-lowest unemployment rate in the state.
The unemployment rate in nearby Cochise County fell one-tenth of a point in October to 4.2 percent.
Statewide, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased by one-tenth of a point in October, 3.6 percent, while the national unemployment rate remained flat at 4.1 percent.
Job gains were reported in nine economic sectors: Leisure and hospitality (up 7,700 jobs); trade, transportation and utilities (up 5,900 jobs); health care and social assistance (up 4,800 jobs); financial activities (up 1,800 jobs); professional and business services (up 1,700 jobs); construction (up 1,200 jobs); government (up 1,100 jobs); private educational services (up 900 jobs); and natural resources and mining (up 200 jobs).
Only one sector reported job losses in October, manufacturing (down 500 jobs).
