Two injured in single-vehicle crash Sunday

GERONIMO — Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a single-vehicle crash that injured two people Sunday.

The crash occurred at about 7:28 p.m. on U.S. Highway 70, at milepost 301.

Graham County Sheriff’s deputies reported the vehicle was eastbound, when it crossed the centerline and went off the north side of the roadway, slamming into the steel pole outside the building in Geronimo.

Arizona Department of Public Safety reports that when troopers arrived on scene, a man was found outside the vehicle, lying on the ground. However, it was not certain if the man was ejected.

A woman was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated.

Both were transported via ground ambulance to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. The woman’s injuries are described as “serious”; however, the nature of the injuries was not disclosed. The man’s injuries were described as “non life-threatening.”

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
