Trio of clean-up projects in Graham, Greenlee

SAFFORD — Those wanting a cleaner environment will have three opportunities over the next few weeks to effect change.

On its social media, the Coronado National Forest announced Wild Arizona is seeking volunteers to help with trail maintenance on Mount Graham.

The work will take place Friday through Sunday, Feb. 23-25, along Gibson Canyon Trail, with camping available in Arcadia Campground.

On Saturday, March 2, the City of Safford, Southeastern Arizona Clean and Beautiful (SEACAB) and volunteers will conduct a clean-up of the bike trail between Discovery Park and the Safford Cemetery.

Volunteers will meet in the cemetery parking lot at 8 a.m. and are asked to bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Gloves, vests and trash bags will be provided.

Gila Watershed Partnership is continuing its effort to clean the waterways of Graham and Greenlee counties, and the next project is a clean-up along the banks of the Gila River in Duncan on Saturday, March 23.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and work will wrap by noon. Volunteers are asked to bring water, and wear a hat and closed-toed shoes. Those who RSVP by March 21 will receive a snack following the clean-up.
