Tony Steven Plantz, of Safford, entered into rest Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 57. His loss was completely unexpected, and the family is deeply saddened.
Tony was born December 8, 1963, to Bonnie Matlock and Vernon Plantz in Racine, Wisconsin, where he lived until he was 2. Bonnie then moved her boys to San Diego, California, where they lived until 1976. Bonnie decided to make one last move, to their forever home on Critter Lane in Safford, where Tony lived the majority of his life.
In 1985, while working at Texaco on 8th and highway 70, Tony met Jaimie Anderson. Then on August 11, 1985, they were married. Jaimie had 3 boys from previous relationships who Tony loved like his own. They lived in San Manuel and Mammoth where Tony worked as a laborer and driller helper at a lumber and steel salvage yard. In 1986 Tony and Jaimie had a son, then in 1988 and 1990 had 2 girls. They decided to move back to Safford in 1990 when Tony started working for Tom and Judy’s RV Repair.
Tony was a jack of all trades but loved to work on anything with an engine. If you couldn’t find him, it was likely you would find him outside under a hood or under a car. Tony loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He also had a huge soft spot for dogs. He loved and cared for many throughout his years. Tony loved his family and friends and would do whatever he could if they were in need.
Tony is preceded in death by: his mother, Bonnie Matlock; and his nephew, David Plantz.
Tony is survived and will be missed by: his ex-wife, Jaimie; their 6 kids, Micheal Gutierrez, Rickey Wilson, Tyler Goucher, Tony, Alli, and Joni Plantz; 2 nephews and 2 nieces, Buck Tom, Shaunee Tom, Kevin Plantz, and Marissa Tedford; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and his favorite, 16 grandchildren.
