Theft victim arrested for outstanding warrants

SAFFORD — A man who claimed he was ripped-off by a couple offering him a ride found himself under arrest.

The victim contacted Safford Police to report that his clothing, unemployment card, credit card and mobile phone had allegedly been stolen by Chris Carrasco and a female, who had offered the man a ride to New Mexico. The victim said he offered to pay $50 for gas and went into the convenience store to pay and, when he came, the couple and their vehicle were gone with his items.

The Safford officer contacted Thatcher Police to try and find Carrasco at his residence, but contact was negative.

Meanwhile, during a ride to the victim’s home in San Jose, a record’s check found the victim had two outstanding warrants.

He was taken into custody without incident.
