THATCHER — Four men have submitted applications for the open seat on the Thatcher Town Council.
The seat became open following the resignation of Vice Mayor Heston Welker, who has moved out of Thatcher to a new home in Central.
Seeking appointment are Ryan Allen, Brandon Homer, Denis Poirier and Erick Wright. Homer is the only applicant currently serving the town, sitting on both the Board of Adjustment and Planning and Zoning Commission.
The appointee will serve out the remainder of Welker’s term, through December 2026.
An applicant will be selected at the next Thatcher Town Council meeting, Monday, June 16, starting at 6:30 p.m. The council will also be asked to select a new vice mayor.
Welker was first appointed to the Town Council following the resignation of Don Innes in 2017. Welker then won election to a full term in 2018, re-election in 2022, and was selected by the council to serve as vice mayor in 2024.
