Thatcher Police vehicle struck while responding to a call

THATCHER — A Thatcher Police officer’s vehicle was struck when he was traveling to assist in a potential high-risk traffic stop.

The crash happened Friday, April 30, at about 8 p.m. The officer was in the intersection of 3rd Avenue and U.S. Highway 70 when his vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a vehicle traveling north across the highway.

The officer was attempting to assist a fellow officer who was attempting a traffic stop on a person reported to have brandished a firearm at another driver.

Arizona Department of Public Safety is conducting the investigation into the crash. There were no reported injuries.
