Thatcher permits five new home starts in January, Safford two

GRAHAM COUNTY — A total of seven new home construction permits were issued in the Gila Valley’s three incorporated communities in January.

Thatcher issued five building permits for new home construction, for a total valuation of $2.4 million, or an average value of $480,000 per home.

Safford issued permits for the construction of two new homes. Safford does not detail values of the developments.

Pima did not issue any permits for new home construction in January.

Thatcher also issued the permit for construction of the new 69-unit hotel to the east of Marriott-Spring Hill Suites. That project is valued at $10 million. There were also permits issued for alterations or additions to two existing commercial structures — valued at $315,000 — and two residential buildings.

Meanwhile Safford issued 14 residential and five commercial renovation permits. And Pima issued one permit for an accessory building.
