Collin Thompson, a graduate of Thatcher High School and senior defensive lineman at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American First Team for the second consecutive year.
This recognition makes Thompson the first player in Concordia football history to earn multiple CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-American honors. He is also only the sixth Concordia student-athlete across all sports to receive this distinction more than once.
The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes student-athletes who excel in both athletics and academics. Candidates must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale, have sophomore standing academically and athletically, and meet specific athletic participation requirements. The selection process is conducted by members of CSC, a group of over 2,000 collegiate sports information professionals in the U.S. and Canada.
Thompson completed his collegiate football career as a three-time MIAC All-Conference honoree, a D3football.com All-American and All-Region award winner, and the MIAC Most Outstanding Lineman (Mike Stam Award) winner for 2023.
During his time at Concordia, Thompson set school records for career tackles for loss (39.0) and single season tackles for loss, while also recording 120 total tackles and 15 sacks in his career.
Academically, Thompson is currently a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in management science, maintaining a 3.96 GPA.
