SAFFORD — New parks developed in the City of Safford will be designed with input from those who actually use the parks.

Students Taking A Road to Success, or STARS, attended this year’s League of Cities and Towns Conference and gained input on parks and recreation development.

“We’ve been all learning what has to be put in to make parks, and to make them how they are. And we’re really grateful that we’re able to put in our input as teenagers with how, maybe, parks would benefit teenagers better,” said Kali Glugas with STARS.

The other teens who attended the conference and are helping with parks development are: Xander Webb, Olivia Madrid, Elysia Barringer and Aaron Cutler. They were accompanied by adult representative Toni Palomino, who also is a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee for the City of Safford.

The teens and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee continue to seek public input on parks with the city, including the expansion of El Paso Park and development of a new park in the area of 10th Avenue and 10th Street.
