Stuart Duane Lewis has passed away after battling cancer for the past two years. He was born November 26, 1965, to Marion Benson and Sherree Rogers Lewis. He was the exact middle of 11 children. During high school, he participated in football, honor choir, and various shenanigans. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Korea Seoul Mission. Stuart had a keen mind for mechanics and had various jobs in that field. He earned degrees in airplane mechanics and machining. Since 2006, he has worked at the mine in Morenci. He married Lisa McInnes in 1993, and together they share a son, Ian James Lewis. Stuart had a quick wit and was a true and loyal friend. He loved music from heavy metal to opera, and surprised family and friends with his knowledge on a wide range of topics. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Amy Lewis Whetten.
Stuart is survived by: his wife, Lisa; his son, Ian; and his siblings, Benda (Barry) Eggleston, Karlie (Ron) Valles, Ivy (Craig) Jones, Matt (Suzy) Lewis, Glen Whetten, Tana (Saul) Eggleston, David (Cher) Lewis, Vera Sue (Salim) Jabbour, Megan Gould, and Dennis (Audrey) Lewis, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral services for Stuart were conducted Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Love Lake Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Concluding services followed in the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor, AZ.
